At the Gatton Science Orientation Day you'll hear from academic staff and current students, meet your peers and future friends, and find out how to make a successful start to your studies.
Orientation event program

Thursday 19 February 2026
10:30am–3pm
The day will include:
- an information session run by current students and academics to help you settle in at UQ
- group activities where you will meet others in your program
- a showcase of student support services and opportunities
- a free lunch (vegan, halal and gluten free options available).
All students are invited to arrive early for the 'Campus Challenge by UQ Halls of Residence'. Meet at 9am outside Walkway Café in the Central Walkway (optional).

Student immunisation requirements
If you're enrolled in a program or course working with animals or in agricultural environments, you need to be up to date with several vaccinations.
Depending on your program or course, you may need to provide evidence of vaccinations or immunity against:
- tetanus
- Q fever.
Depending on the work and environment within which you interact with animals, you may also require vaccination against:
- lyssavirus
- rabies
- influenza (flu).

International students
If you're an international student arriving at Brisbane International Airport between 1 and 22 February 2026, you can register for a free airport welcome and shuttle service.
