2020 Faculty of Science Awards announced

Congratulations to the winners of the 2020 Faculty of Science Awards, announced today at The University of Queensland.

These individuals have demonstrated excellence and future potential in science learning, communication, research, teaching, service, mentoring, leadership or teamwork.

2020 Winners

Future Superstar Awards: Awarded to high achieving students in the Faculty of Science who demonstrate outstanding contributions, achievements and future potential in science learning, communication, research, teaching, service, mentoring, leadership or teamwork.

Winners: Marley Chia, Germain Tobar, Lucas Ngo Dee, Daniel Fryer, and Leslie Roberson

Rising Star Awards: Awarded to individuals who demonstrate excellence and future potential in research (science or teaching & learning), teaching, academic or professional service, or driving positive workplace culture.

Winners: Amelia Wenger (SEES), Craig Jones (UQ Skills)

Leadership and Mentoring Awards: Awarded to individuals who, in their role as advisor/ supervisor / major convenor / course coordinator / other demonstrate positive outcomes from mentoring students or staff or leadership of positive change in research, teaching & learning or service or workplace culture.

Winners: Carissa Klein (SEES), Evan Morgan (Faculty Advancement)

Partnership and Collaboration Award: Awarded to teams that, through partnership and collaboration, have achieved demonstrated improvements in student cohort experience, student learning, research impact or community engagement.

Winner: SCMB EMCR Group

UQ Values Award: Awarded to an individual who has demonstrated a commitment to upholding the University’s values, and displays the outstanding personal qualities of openness, respectfulness and integrity. Read more on information on UQ values.

Winner: Rachel Stephenson (SCMB)

Winners received a variety of awards. Students received a $300 cash prize in the form of a Visa gift card, while individual staff received $1000 for professional development, work-related travel, technology purchases, or journal subscriptions. Rising Star award winners can also elect to be mentored by a senior member of staff. Staff teams received up to $3000, shared per team for professional development, work-related travel, technology purchases, or journal subscriptions.
