Scientific facilities and equipment
Our schools and centres manage facilities and laboratories at UQ St Lucia and UQ Gatton to enable research and teaching across all our disciplines.
Research students and staff, UQ collaborators and, in some cases, external partners use our specialised equipment and instrumentation, which ranges from microscopes, mass spectrometers and flow cytometers to analytical food sensory testing tools, real-time PCR machines and more.
UQ has more than 2300 laboratories.
All our laboratories observe recognised health, safety and design standards, and we provide training for users who work with risk factors including (but not limited to) genetically modified organisms, quarantine material, hazardous chemicals, radiation sources and large, microscopic and venomous animals.
