Engage in a 6-week research experience through the UQ Summer Research Program.
Participate in research-related activities for your selected project under the guidance of UQ’s leading academics and researchers. Apply your degree-specific knowledge while developing valuable research and professional capabilities.
This work experience opportunity runs for 6 weeks during the Summer Inter-Semester recess (January–February) and you'll receive a grant for participation in the program. You can also count your participation towards attainment of the UQ Employability Award.
Apply for the program
Applications for the 2025 Summer Research Program open on Monday 23 September 2024.
3. Obtain supervisor approval
Before submitting your application via Student Hub, you must contact your chosen supervisor to seek their endorsement for you to undertake their project.
Email the supervisor with a statement that includes:
- Introduction to yourself and an outline of your suitability to a project, highlighting key skills and/or knowledge you have that relate to the supervisor’s project;
- Outline of your motivations for participating in the program;
- Statement of what you hope to gain from the research experience; and
- Outline of the knowledge and capabilities you can contribute to the project team.
Once you have received supervisor endorsement, you will upload email endorsement with your application via Student Hub. Supervisor endorsement does not guarantee a place in the program, or in any specific project. However, it provides confirmation that you are a suitable candidate, and can move through to the selection process.
You can re-use the statement you provided to the supervisor as your personal statement in your Student Hub application.
