29 May 2018

Congratulations to Science Faculty staff committed to delivering world class teaching, who have recently been recognised by the Higher Education Academy, UK.

They are: Academy principal fellows - Associate Professor Susan Rowland, Deputy Associate Dean Academic (Future Students and Employability) and Professor Paul Mills (School of Veterinary Science); and senior fellows - Dr Karyn Johnson (School of Biological Science), Michael Jennings (School of Mathematics and Physics) and Dr Daniel Schull (School of Veterinary Science).

Accreditation through the Higher Education Authority (HEA) provides university staff with an internationally-aknowledged recognition of their skills and practice.

“It provides a way for universities to evidence the quality of the education its students will get,” Associate Professor Susan Rowland said.

“It also provides professional recognition for academics who want to evidence the quality of their teaching work.

“In 2016 ITaLI launched a pilot program to assist UQ staff gain HEA Accreditation at levels from Associate Fellow through to Principal Fellow.”

UQ Executive Dean of Science Professor Melissa Brown congratulated the new principal fellows and senior fellows on their achievements.
