Health and ecology of koala populations across Queensland

The UQ Koala Ecology Group examines the health and ecology of koala populations across Queensland.

Our research is largely field-based and includes veterinary health assessments and monitoring of individuals with collars. Our research findings directly inform management and conservation programs.

We collaborate with local and state government agencies, business and industry groups, and environmental community groups.

Recent examples of our work include surveying island populations in central Queensland, disease management programs at various sites in Brisbane, and the reintroduction of koalas to vacant bushland at Wacol and Maryborough.
